Dear Diary,
It’s about bloody time I get to write and entry again!

No matter how hard I tried to get Mom to open up the laptop for me to write, she refused. I tried everything from sitting on the keyboard to walking all over it, even activating some unknown features (or de-activating them) but she wouldn’t budge – and they say cats are stubborn! We would sit together in the evenings after work to watch a movie, after which she usually fell asleep, but no writing took place, so I had no choice.
How do I summarise my life in the past months? My senior decrepit memory is fuzzier than my fur these days, so bear with me. Oh well, there’s a good word to start with, fur. I got a summer fur trim and absolutely hated it. Much of it has grown back but it is nowhere near the usual catdiva flair you are used to seeing, so please don’t go asking for portraits in the near future.
There is a kitten who has practically moved in with us. Her name is Warbles (originally Marbles) but Warbles suits her better because she warbles and wails nonstop until she is let in and fed. Then she insists on zooming around the house to play, and good grief the child has the energy of three windmills. Mom gave her a play tunnel and some toys to keep her entertained, but the trouble is that Warbles expects me to play with her as well. I can barely land on tables and counters on good days now, so how am I supposed to keep up with a game of tag. Besides, what the hell is this concept of “play” anyway? I never had this in Berlin so this is totally alien to me, must be something local.
Warbles keeps trying to be my BFF and follows me everywhere, even to the loo. Hello? Personal space? She rubs up to me and purrs but I have no clue how to respond. Even worse, she insists on taking naps with me. I tried to hide in the kitchen and blend into the spices but she found me and is my new snuggle buddy. I have to admit, on cold days it is not such a bad thing.

I much prefer the older toms who come to visit. They have their snack, keep their distance, and will chill with me for a while but conversation and entertainment is optional. Ah, gotta love the strong silent types!

This year Mom actually decorated for Halloween, which is something I had missed. We even had some trick-or-treaters all the way up here! Wonders never cease, but we were prepared with all the candy. But winter has arrived and with that comes the cold weather and the cosy fires in the evening. We will be decorating for Christmas soon, which means the lovely fairy lights and candles all around the living room. We are back to LED candles now because I set my tail on fire again. Oh well.
Gotta catch my beauty rest. See you in the next blog.
Meowingly yours,
Cherry
