Orange Flashback

I am feeling a bit nostalgic this evening so I surfed my archives in search of something that evokes memories and serenity alike. Autumn is around the corner and that means 50 Shades of Orange are surrounding us in one way or another, and there is something about this colour that triggers aromatic memories as well.

So sit back, relax, and soak in the vibrancy of this powerful colour in various manifestations that have paraded in front of my lens:

“I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.” – Dodinsky

“The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves. We have had our summer evenings; now for October eves!” – Humbert Wolfe

“I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” – LM Montgomery

Of course I am ending this walk down memory lane with some of the more recent shots in orange. It is only when I moved to Portugal that the colour and scent anchored itself in my life. One the first and most powerful impressions I had of Lisbon was the heady scent of orange blossoms. Life in Vila Franca offered dramatic visions over the water in the morning, and paved the way for an emotional and soul recovery like no other. Then moving to Igreja Nova cemented the concept with the glorious sunsets.
