You’ve all read about the concept that orange cats are “different” or that their brains tend to misfire more than any other cat. If you have been following this blog for the last 12 months, give or take a few more, you know that a certain tom cat named Cheddar and I adopted each other while Cherry was still alive. He is an extremely quiet and uncommunicative fellow who never really has anything to share, express or complain about. In fact, I often wonder what on earth his brain matter is comprised of. Nevertheless, he is a loyal fellow who never picks a fight with anyone, lets other bully him, and appreciates being allowed a quiet, comfortable place when it is cold and rainy outdoors.
Cheddar recently made friends with one of the kittens named Toffee, who is half orange but whose wide-eyed empty look is very much 100% legitimate orange, just like her uncle Cheddar. So it is no surprise that they get along fine because nobody has anything to say, they stay together without getting in each other’s way.
Temperatures have dropped again so Cheddar spends quite a bit of time indoors, and Toffee has acquired a similar habit. Cheddar has a favourite corner on the dining table bench, and can snooze for hours on end there, which he did, until he woke up hungry. I’ll let the photos tell the rest of the story:
Chapter 1: Nap time / peaceful co-existence:
Chapter 2: Intruder alert – well damn it, someone took my spot!
Chapter 3: Compromise – I don’t like the other spots, there is nothing else available …
Chapter 4: OK fine, I’ll share but you need to clean up first
Chapter 6: Sleeeeeep
And they napped happy ever after! Who needs Halloween decorations when I have these lovely orange pumpkins?
